- 53:30Elite Migrants and the Dynamics of Migrant Hierarchy: Unveiling the Layers of Global MobilityPeoples, Cultures and Careers #2- Elite Migrants and the Dynamics of Migrant Hierarchy: Unveiling the Layers of Global MobilityDuring this lecture on 17 September, Assistant Professor Kathleen Park explored the dynamics of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) – specifically, how elite migrants from both the Global North and Global South face unique challenges in the GCC due to status incongruence – stemming from not being hereditary citizens in the region. It proposes that early interactions with parents shape an individual’s view of themselves and the world, influencing their emotional experiences and relationships. In this lecture held on 18 September, Professor Joanna Barlas explored the impact of these recalled early parenting interactions on new mothers during the postnatal period, particularly focusing on their mood and perceived competence in the mothering role. This understanding can then inform ways to support the mental health of parents.Connect with James Cook University, Singapore: Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jcu.singapore.fanpage/ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jcu_singapore Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jcusingapore Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jcusingapore And for more news and information, visit https://www.jcu.edu.sg/
