On 25 November, together with Kolam Ayer Sims Vista Residents' Network, our staff and students came together to bring early Christmas joy to 77 households in the Kolam Ayer Community - marking the 6th year of our Christmas Community Project! 🎄✨ Heartfelt appreciation goes to our dedicated student volunteers and staff who made it possible. It was wonderful to see how much our residents enjoyed the celebration, reminding us of the impact initiatives like this can have. ❤️ Merry Christmas in advance to all! 🎅

- 41:13Research Spotlight Series #4 – Tackling Aquaculture Disease with Genomic and Molecular ToolsAquaculture is central to Singapore’s food security, yet disease outbreaks remain a major constraint. My research focuses on harnessing genomics and molecular tools to tackle disease challenges in sustainable aquaculture in Singapore, with particular emphasis on Barramundi (Lates calcarifer), Asian Seabass. By integrating pathogen environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring with quantitative PCR (qPCR) and digital PCR, we aim to establish sensitive early-warning surveil-lance systems for pathogen detection. These approaches reduce outbreak risks, strengthen farm resilience, and support sustainable production. This lecture will highlight how molecular diagnostics and genomics can advance fish health management while contributing to Singapore’s long-term food security strategy.
- 55:52EOS #2 - Information Transmission in Stock and Bond MarketsThe returns of firms’ corporate bonds predict their future stock returns, especially for firms with low credit ratings and distressed fundamentals. Predictability is amplified when bond volume is high relative to stock volume, and when bond traders are larger, and is stronger for firms with lottery-like stock characteristics that attract retail traders. These findings suggest that informed bond trading transmits valuable information that equity markets incorporate with a delay due to noise. Stronger predictability around earnings announcements supports the view that bond markets reflect firm-specific cash flow information rather than changes in risk premia.
